Diana Lynn Johnston, 73, of Grain Valley, passed away after an extended illness on Thursday July 29, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Memorial services will be held Friday August 6, 2021 at Royer Funeral Home 100 Royer Lane in Grain Valley, Missouri 64029. Visitation is from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and the Memorial Service will start at 7:00pm. Zoom video chat is available if you are unable to attend. Diana was born May 3, 1948 in Akron, Ohio. She attended Garfield High school and graduated in 1966. She was baptized in 1974 as a Jehovah’s Witness in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Diana was proceeded in death by her father Virgil Lay, mother Barbra (Wigfield) Lay, brother David Lay. She was survived by her husband of 40 years Chuck Johnston, son William Johnson of Grain Valley, son Troy Johnston of Dunkirk, Maryland, sister Patty Speedy of Akron, Ohio, granddaughters: Ashley Riddle, Katie (Justin) Roberts of Kansas City, Taylor Weaver of Zephyrhills, Florida, Emalee Black of Kansas, Haleigh Black, Alexis Weaver of Independence, Faith McCulloch of Buckner, Lauren Johnston and Aiden Johnston of Dunkirk, Maryland. Diana has 2 nieces, 4 nephews and 10 great grandkids.
Diana has worked at many professions including the last 25 years as a stay-at-home wife. She loved growing her flowers; planting her tomatoes. She also loved spending days with her granddaughters and her great grandkids. Diana has had many cats over the years, collected bells, feeding hummingbirds, and many other things. She was loved by most that met her.
