Dinah Jean Grote, 71, of Bates City, Missouri, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21st at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO; burial in Shore Cemetery, Oak Grove. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Dinah was born April 5, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond T. and Betty Mae (Schwartz) Mawhiney. Her family moved to Oak Grove in 1961 and Dinah was a 1968 graduate of Oak Grove High School. She also attended 2 years of college at MU. Dinah was a cook for the Oak Grove School District for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, and feeding the birds.
Dinah was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Becky McGinnis and Peggy Heath.
Her survivors include her husband of 51 years, Roy Grote of the home; two sons: Craig Grote (Julie) of Kansas City, MO, and Thomas Grote (Paloma) of Celina, TX; five grandchildren: Sophia Grote, Amanda Grote, Gavin Grote, Lorena Pimentel, and Mackenzie Grote; sister, Wanda Sudduth of Oak Grove; brother-in-law, Michael Heath of Oak Grove; and many nieces and nephews.
