Dixie Darlene Hayes, 71, of Oak Grove, Missouri passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 29th at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove; inurnment in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs.
Dixie was born June 6, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Wesley Lee and Lenora Elizabeth (Danner) Dollard. She married Ron Hayes Sr. on January 10, 1965. She was a housewife and cosmetologist. Dixie was an active member of the community. She participated in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, the drug program at Oak Grove High School, the Missouri Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, and the Red Hat Society. Dixie was a member of First Baptist Church of Oak Grove for 40+ years, where she taught Vacation Bible School. She had been a member of the Oak Grove City Council, had been President of the Chamber of Commerce and President of the Oak Grove Park Board.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents; brother Tom Dollard, and sister Saundra O’Brien.
Her survivors include her husband of 54 years, Ronald E. Hayes Sr; two sons, Ronald E. Hayes Jr. (Christine) of Oak Grove and Rex E. Hayes of Buford, GA; six grandchildren: Haley, Hunter, Walter, Ginny, Lawson, and Ansley Hayes; brother, Bryan Dollard of Windsor, MO; and sister, Jewell Iles of Kingsville, MO.
