Don & Frankie Halsey


Don & Frankie Halsey of Oak Grove, MO, died Friday, August 5, 2011 in their home of carbon monoxide poisoning. Joint funeral services will be held at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove: Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Monday, August 8th and funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 9th. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Senior Program at Davis Memorial Center.

Donald Dean Halsey, 81, was born December 20, 1929 in rural Jackson County, MO, the son of Hubert & Elizabeth (Wilson) Halsey. Don was a retired truck driver, having worked for the railroad. He was a member of Teamster’s Local #41, the Oak Grove United Methodist Church, the Missouri State Tractor Pullers Association, and the Oak Grove Antique Tractor Club. Don farmed and raised cattle. He loved gardening.

Mary Frances (Graham) Halsey, 81, was born April 13, 1930 in Oak Grove, MO, the daughter of Samuel & Ruth (Coleman) Graham. She was a homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church and served as a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital. Frankie enjoyed quilting and sharing those quilts with her children & grandchildren, whom she dearly loved. She enjoyed cooking for family & friends and collecting cookbooks. Sitting on the porch swing with Don was a great end to each day.

Don & Frankie were married on September 18, 1949.

Their survivors include a son: Mike Halsey & wife Diane of Odessa; four daughters: Linda Lock of Independence, Nancy Harper & husband Rod of Oak Grove, Hop Amor of Oak Grove, and Dona Whitehead & husband Kevin of Oak Grove; seventeen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great great-granddaughter. Don is also survived by a brother: Joe Halsey & wife Sandy of Odessa. Frankie is also survived by a sister: Nellie Wheaton & husband Kay of Oak Grove.
