Donald Dean Austin, 80, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, MO. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23rd at Faith United Methodist Church, 1950 SW Eagles Parkway, Grain Valley, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
Donald was born November 23, 1933, in Tightwad, Missouri, the son of Broadus and Mary (McGinnis) Austin. He served two years in the U.S. Army. Donald married Joyce A. Whitworth in January 1960. He was an assembly line worker at Ford Motor Company. After retiring from Ford in 1973, he was an over the road truck driver for 24 years. Donald was a beloved husband, father, and papa.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; one sister; and one son, Randy Austin.
His survivors include his wife of 54 years, Joyce Austin of the home; three daughters: Debbie Love & husband, Brian of Chapel Hill, TN, Lori Brown & husband, Phil of Overland Park, KS, & Lisa Warren of Blue Springs, MO; one son, Donald D. Austin Jr. & wife, Shelby of Prairie Village, KS; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
