Donald L. Case


Donald Loren Case “Don”, 89, of Oak Grove, Missouri, died on Saturday, October 5, 2019.  Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8th at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice.

Don was born on a farm in Phillips County, Kansas, on June 14, 1930 to Loren Alonzo and Anna Adelade (Jerby) Case.  He attended Phillipsburg, Kansas, High School and graduated in 1948.  Don was preceded in

death by his mother and father, and his sister, Audrey.

Don is a veteran of the Korean War and served along the DMZ.  His tour of duty was December 1951 to January of 1953.  He was supply Sergeant with the 2nd Rocket Field Artillery Battery which received the Distinguished Unit Citation for their outstanding action in support of UN troops in the battle of White Horse Mountain. 

Don worked for the A.L. Duckwall Stores Company of Kansas for 21 years, managing stores at various locations in Kansas. He managed the Ben Franklin store in Oak Grove for several years. At his retirement, in 2010, Don was working for Walmart.  He worked for Walmart for 21 years, at various locations in Kansas and Missouri.

Don is survived by his wife, Marion, of the home.  They were married on January 1, 1979. He is also survived by daughter Jody Delay (Joe) of Schaumburg, Illinois, daughter Lori Robinson of Wichita, Kansas, daughter Pamela Jaggers (Bill) of Holt, Missouri, son Jim Case (Christina) of Fulton, Missouri and daughter Tina Sasser (Mike) of Ardmore, Oklahoma. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Don started his Masonic journey in 1945. While in high school he joined DeMolay and is a DeMolay Legion of Honor member.  He was a 64-year member of Christian Lodge #392 in Oak Grove, a 50-year member of the Scottish Rite, and a 32-year member of Ararat Shriners.  Don was a 60-year member of Oak Grove Chapter #407 Order of the Eastern Star.

Don spent most of his free time enjoying his love for country music and the Grand Old Opry. He also loved Gene Autry and even donated some of Gene Autry’s albums from his own personal collection to the Gene Autry Museum. Don took great pride in traveling with the Honor Flight to see the Korean War Memorial along with other memorials in the Washington D.C. area and felt it was a great privilege.
