Donald Paul Jansen, 82, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Liberty Hospital. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24th at Timothy Lutheran Church, Blue Springs, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 25th at the church; burial at 2:00 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Sweet Springs, MO.
Don was born September 26, 1931, in Sweet Springs, Missouri, the son of William H. and Anna L. (Hartman) Jansen. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He moved to Liberty in 1970. Don was an inspector at Ford Motor Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1982. He always planted a large garden and gave away produce to friends and neighbors.
Don is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Orval & Henry Jansen; and two sisters, Dorothy Smith & Carol Theis.
His survivors include daughter, Crysti Hargrave & husband, Joseph of Lewiston, NY; daughter, Angie Chaffee & husband, Jim of Independence, MO; two step-daughters, Debbie Hutson & Cherrie Moody; brother, Merle Jansen of Blue Springs, MO; sister, Betty Strawn of Leawood, KS; five grandchildren: Aaron, Lara, & Anna Hargrave, and Jason & Sarah Chaffee; several nieces & nephews; and many friends.
