
Eddie Leon Gooch, 80, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on July 16, 1945, in Brookfield, Missouri, Ed was the son of Charles Glen Gooch and Doris Eulieve Pulliam Gooch Riley. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday October 25, 2025 at Blue Springs Christian Church, located at 7920 MO. 7 Highway, Blue Springs, Missouri 64014. A celebration of life will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church.
After graduating from Browning High School, Ed was drafted in 1968 and proudly served as a Military Police officer in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he worked at Whitaker Cable and later moved to Kansas City, where he joined EdCor Safety. He spent 25 years of his career with Jack Cooper Transport Company, where he served as a dedicated lot supervisor.
Ed married the love of his life, Janet Sandy, on June 26, 1976. Together they built a life filled with family, faith, and adventure. He loved hunting, fishing, spending time on his houseboat at the Lake of the Ozarks and taking wave runner trips with friends. He also enjoyed traveling and took many wonderful vacations, including trips to Europe that brought him great joy. Most of all, he cherished supporting his sons and grandchildren in all their activities. Ed was a faithful member of Blue Springs Christian Church and deeply loved his Savior, Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janet; sons Rob (Kate), Nick (Jenny), and Adam (Heather); grandchildren Jordan, Sydney (Dan), Carter, Lilly, Owen, and Hannah; sister Barbara Lynch; brother Gary Gooch (Elaine); stepbrothers Jim Riley and Bob Riley (Pam); sisters-in-law Diana Goldman (Norm) and Marcia Scott (Lane); and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Bill Lynch, and sister-in-law Helen Browne (Paul).
