Edward Nelson Bitzer Jr., 73, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 12th at Royer-Hays Funeral Home, Blue Springs, MO; burial in Blue Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
Edward was born December 13, 1940, in Independence, Missouri, the son of Edward N. and Mildred M. (Spencer) Bitzer Sr. He married Phillis K. Moore in March 1962. Ed worked as a truck driver & mechanic for over 25 years. He was a member of the Boy Scouts Mic-O-Say Troop 382.
Ed was preceded in death by one son, two brothers, and one sister.
His survivors include his wife of 52 years, Phillis, of the home; daughter, Loretta Jackson of Independence, MO; brother, Tom Bitzer of Grain Valley, MO; three sisters: Claudine Lindsey of Higginsville, MO, Mildred Mansell of Oak Grove, MO, & Barbara Oxley of Lebanon, TN; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
