Edwin Harold Barnes, 78, of Bates City, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 at his home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5th in Six Mile Cemetery, Independence, MO.
Edwin was born July 30, 1938, in Goodman, Missouri, the son of Walter T. and Maxine (Reardon) Barnes. He married Ellen Marie Miles on April 10, 1958. Edwin was a Supervisor for General Motors, retiring in 1991 after 32 years of service. He enjoyed camping, boating and being outdoors, and especially spending time with his grandkids. Edwin also enjoyed raising animals, and he loved his dog, Patches.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ellen Barnes; one son, Edwin H. Barnes Jr.; and one sister, Beverly Rice.
His survivors include three daughters: Pam Jeffries (Andy) of Independence, Tammy Myers of Centerview, MO, and Kelly Olson of Bates City; one son, Randy Barnes (Debra) of Odessa, MO; twenty grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; two brothers: Jr. Barnes and Gary Barnes; and one sister, Judy Eggelston.

5 Aug 2020I am so sorry for the family’s loss. Ed was a sweetheart. I worked with him and Ellen at the Truckstop in Oak Grove for years. I loved them both as family. I always called him pops and Ellen momma T. I will miss him. God bless his family in time of need.
