Elizabeth M. “Betty” Ashcraft, 89, of Oak Grove, MO passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 at her home. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO. Funeral Service will be 11 :00 a.m. Thursday December 6, 2012 with a visitation from 10:30-11 :00 a.m. prior to the service at Greenton Baptist Church, Odessa, MO. Burial in Greenton Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Greenton Cemetery Fund. Family suggests no houseplants.
Betty was born March 25, 1923 in Marshall, MO to Thomas Eldon & Sadonia Bertha (Evertson) Clampitt. On December 18, 1957 she married J.W. Dub Ashcraft. She was a telephone operator in Oak Grove until 1957. She was a farmer carrying on the family business of raising hogs and hay production until retiring in the late 1980’s. Betty loved to travel, play games, puzzles, reading and shopping. Betty was preceded in death by her husband: J.W. Dub Ashcraft in 1977; sister: Julia Sudduth; Infant daughter: Betty Lou Ashcraft.
Betty is survived by her daughter: Mary Jo Ashcraft-Costigan & husband Pat of Oak Grove, MO; 2 step-grandchildren: Brittany Costigan-Hernandez of Brookfield, MO, Leif Costigan of South Kansas City, MO; 2 step-great-grandchildren: Liliana Hernandez, Emy Hernandez; Nieces: Donna Lou & husband John House, Galie Drinkwater, Teresa Sudduth, Dora May & husband Dale Parsons, Mary Alice & husband Eddie Haile,; nephews: Chris & wife Heather House, Bill & wife Bami Drinkwater, Harold /k, wife Wendy Sudduth, Lee & wife Melanie Haile, Mark & wife Rohnda Hail~, Kenny & wife Christy Hughes, Wayne Hughes; great-niece: Karen House; great nephews; Brendon.
