
Elmer Dean Young, 82, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 25th at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26th at the Oak Grove Community of Christ Church.
Elmer was born May 26, 1937, in Oak Grove, Missouri, the son of John W. and Freida L. (Lueck) Young. He had been a barber, working with his father at his barber shop in Oak Grove, and a unit leader at Lake City where he was a mechanic in the ammunition wing, and was most recently a security guard at Armco. Elmer was a member and High Priest at Oak Grove Community of Christ Church, a member of the Oak Grove City Council, President of the Oak Grove Historical Society, and lifetime member of Missouri Town Volunteers. He enjoyed inventing things and working with metal, traveling, camping, and driving “Miss Daisy”.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Young in 1989; and daughter, Diana L. Young in 1985.
His survivors include his wife, Lois M. Young of the home; son, Dean Young (Denise) of Holden, MO; grandson, Devin Northrop (Deanne) of Ft. Myers, FL; three great-grandsons: Logan, Luke, and Lane Northrop of Ft. Myers, FL; and sister, Betty Henderson of Ft. Collins, CO.
