Ethel P. Westerberg, 93, of Oak Grove, MO passed away Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Oak Grove Nursing and Rahab Facility, Oak Grove, MO. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2011 at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. preceding the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1501 South Harding, Oak Grove, MO 64075.
Ethel was born May 16, 1917 in rural Jackson County, MO to Theodore J. and Stella (Reed) Love. In March of 1938 Ethel married Lawrence Westerberg. She worked as a telephone operator for the Untied Telephone Co. and was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church where she was very active in missionary work. Ethel also worked as a den mother for Cub Scouts and a troupe leader for Girl Scouts.
She preceded in death by her husband of 39 years: Lawrence Westerberg; her parents: Theodore and Stella Love; one sister: Louise Barker; and 3 great grandchildren: Chase Brown, Lauren Praydo an Jonathan Praydo.
Her survivors include three daughters: Barbara Ann Hallier, Linda Sue Barrow, and Helen Elaine Burres; and one son: Ernie Westerberg all of Oak Grove, MO; three sisters: Norine Simmerman of Independence, MO, Ruby McNeely of Independence, MO, and Frances Shurmantine of Wellington, MO; six grandchildren: Loretta Kroesen and husband Andy of Harrisonville, MO, Susan Battles of Boonville, MO, Curtis Hallier and wife Wailani of Oak Grove, MO, John Hallier and wife Stacey of Odessa, MO, Julie Prado and husband Ernie of Benton, AK, and Susan Carey and husband Greyling of Smithville, MO; and 14 great grandchildren.
