Garland Ray Sigmon, 61, of Independence, Missouri passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 in his home surrounded by family and friends. A celebration of Garland’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 10th, 2017 at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Garland was born November 10, 1955 in White Oak, Texas. He graduated from Van Horn High School in the Class of ’74. In 1976, he began his career in the Water and Waste Water Industry with Layne Western. In 2000, Garland took part in starting his own company in the water industry called Alliance Pump. He took great pride in his work and company with a career that lasted 41 years. He left a legacy with everyone that he worked with, for, and taught that will be passed on through generations to come.
Garland had a smile that would light up the room and a sense of humor like no other. He was known by his family and friends as “always the life of the party”. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, uncle, and friend, and was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by all.
Garland will be forever remembered and loved by his wife Ruthie; children: Darren, Jeremy, Cynthia and Jeff; grandchildren: Shannon, Trent, Hannah and Abigail; his sister Nancy; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
