Garry Eugene Ward, 78, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 22nd at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO; burial in Elm Springs Cemetery, Holden, MO. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Garry’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
Garry was born May 20, 1935 in Green City, Missouri, the son of Harold E. & Helen (Pipes) Ward. He married Barbara I. Segars on May 25, 1956. Garry worked for General Motors Leeds plant as a welder for 35 years, retiring in 1997. He attended East Lynn Baptist Church, where he had been a Deacon for 25 years. Garry was a member of the UAW Retirees. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and above all, was a mighty man of God.
Garry was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Jennifer Holland in 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; daughter, Deborah Ward of Elm Springs, MO; son, Kenneth Ward of Pleasant Hill, MO; two grandchildren, Julie Cant & Garry E. Ward II; and two great-grandchildren: Lathan & Ella Cant.
