George Melton, 96, of Higginsville, MO passed away Friday, January 4, 2013 at Meyer Care Center.
A visitation will be held 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2012 at the 1st Baptist Church of Higginsville, MO. Memorial service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial in Corder Calvary Cemetery, Corder, MO. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contribution may be made to Crossroads Hospice 9237 Ward Parkway #300 Kansas City, MO 64114.
George was born June 4, 1916 in Chillicothe, MO to M.H. & Daisy (Nichols) Melton. He was a machinist by trade, working at Bendix. On December 15, 1947 George married Minnie Oellerich. George was a member of the Batesville Baptist Church in Batesville, IN, Lions Club in Corder, MO, and a former long time member of Corder Baptist Church.
George was preceded in death by his parents: M.H. & Daisy Melton.
George is survived by his wife: Minnie Melotn; 2 daughters: Vickie Aversman (Jim) of Leesburg, FL, Patricia Melton of Blue Springs, MO; 1 son: Marty Melton (Barbara) of Memphis, MO; 2 grandsons: Ryan Aversman (Krista) of Burlington, KY, Jordan Aversman of North Bend, OH; 1 step grandson: Nick Rhodes of Memphis, MO; 2 great-grandsons: Landon & Blake Aversman of Burlington, KY.
