
Gerald “Jerry” Allen Lanpher, 75, of South Bend, IN, formerly of Independence, MO, passed away March 23, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend with his daughter by his side. Graveside services for family and close friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 2nd in New Salem Cemetery, Independence, MO. A private family inurnment will follow the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation www.BAFound.org/donate.
Jerry was born April 23, 1942 in Independence, Missouri, the son of the late Edgar R. and Ethel C. (Coldsnow) Lanpher. He was a graduate of the 1960 class at Fort Osage High School. Jerry attended the University of Missouri-Columbia
and graduated August 2, 1968 with a MA, MS, MENG, MED, MSW, and in Pharmaceutical Science. He worked both in the hospital clinical and retail settings up until his retirement. Jerry was a member of the St Mark’s United Methodist Church of Independence. He loved bird watching, fishing, arrowhead and mushroom hunting and singing in the church choir. Jerry was a kind, humble, and gentle soul. On April 21, 2007 he married the love of his life Lucia Oziomek. She preceded him in death in January of 2010.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Gretchen Feitz, of Wyatt, IN; four grandchildren: Jesse Feitz of Temple Terrace, FL, and Anna, Johanna, and Dietrich Feitz of Wyatt; his loving sister, Lisa Banks (Joe) Princeton, MO; and have to mention a very special cousin and lifelong best friend who was like a sister, Karen Johnston (James) of Blue Springs, MO.
