Harold D. Preuett


Harold Dean Preuett passed away peacefully on November 14, 2020 with his family by his side.  Dean was born in St. Louis, MO, to Thomas and Laura Preuett on January 21, 1936.   Dean was the youngest of 7 children- two brothers, Michael and Gilbert, who died at birth, a sister, Betty, who died at age 8, his older brother Thomas and sister Mildred who preceded him in death, and his sister Alberta Snowden.

Dean was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.  He is survived by his wife Lois, children Michael Preuett, Barry Preuett, Deana Brink and son-in-law Steve Brink.  He is survived by 4 granddaughters, Madison Preuett, Breah Preuett, Emily Brink and Arianna Brink.  His one surviving sister is Alberta Snowden who lives in St. Louis, MO.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. 

Dean began his preparation for his life’s work in the ministry by enrolling at East Texas Baptist College.  There he met his wife Lois. They were married in his senior year.  He received his Masters of Divinity and Masters of Religious Education from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO.  He received his Doctorate of Ministries from the University of Dubuque.

Dean’s first pastorate was First Southern Baptist Church in Overland Park, KS.   He pastored the Central Baptist Church in Syracuse, New York.   He spent many years with the Illinois Baptist State Convention and the Arkansas Baptist State Convention in Christian Social Ministries work.  He then returned to the Kansas City area in 1985 to work with the Blue River Kansas City Baptist Association until his retirement in 2003.  But Dean didn’t really retire.  He continued his ministry by serving in numerous interim positions in Kansas City and surrounding area.

The family will host a memorial gathering at Sycamore Hills Baptist Church, 15200 E. 39th St. S. Independence, Mo.  64055 on December 12th at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate Dean’s life.  The family requests that donations be made to the church instead of flowers.

  2. Just found out about Dean’s passing. He was a good friend and had one of the most compassionate hearts I’ve known.
