Harvey L. Alderton, 72, of Buckner, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1st at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 30th at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to City Union Mission.
Harvey was born December 18, 1941 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Harvey N. and Clara J. (Miner) Alderton. Harvey was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and was a dedicated family man. He spent his days restoring and flying airplanes and restoring vintage tractors. Prior to retirement he was a locomotive crane operator for Armco and GST Steel.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother.
His survivors include his wife of 52 years, Jeanette Alderton of the home; son, Shane Alderton of Seattle, WA; daughter, Melissa “Cookie” Alderton of Grain Valley; two grandchildren; brother, James & Janice Alderton of Grain Valley; five sisters: Connie & Carl VanFleet of Ewing MO, Joyce Hall of Ewing, MO, Dianna Olson of Santa Ana, CA, Glenda & Tony Frias of Aliso Viejo, CA, and Minnie & Hamid Sharifinejad of Anaheim Hills, CA.
