
Helen Jeannette Salley, 94, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away at her home on Sunday, August 6, 2017. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Beacon of Hope Hospice in Oak Grove.
Helen was born July 24, 1923 in Kearney, Missouri, to Will Tapp and Lucy Jane (Reynolds) Wagy. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, crossword puzzles, and watching the Kansas City Royals. Helen was a member of the Church of Christ for over 40 years, and was a Jackson County election judge for over 30 years. Her greatest joy in life was keeping a warm and welcoming home for her family and friends. In her words, “I feel tremendously blessed with a wonderful family. If I could have any wish in the world, it would be happiness for you all.”
Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, William Curtis Salley on August 3, 2011, and a daughter, Karen Schaberg on March 16, 2011.
Her survivors include a son, Jim Salley and his wife Harriette of Bates City, MO; a son-in-law, Kim Schaberg of Buckner, MO; and 4 daughters: Linda Salley, Nancy Moore, and Kathy Lewis and husband Jerry, all of Oak Grove, and Carrie Anderson of Kansas City. Her family also includes 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
