Helen Marie Owings, 99, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017. A visitation will be held from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18th at Oak Grove Christian Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., also at the church; burial in Owings-George Cemetery, Oak Grove. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Oak Grove Christian Church or to Show-Me Christian Youth Home.
Helen was born December 24, 1917 in Bates City, Missouri, the daughter of Emmet and Clara (Ford) Carpenter. She was a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church, the American Legion Aux., and the Oak Grove Historical Society. Helen loved her faith, sewing, cooking, traveling, helping Don with everything, and visiting with her family and friends.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Don in 1996; her parents; two brothers; two sisters; and one great-grandson, Johnathan.
Her survivors include two daughters: Janet Owings of Raytown, MO, and Jane Rhodes (Paul) of Odessa, MO; four grandchildren: Christina Whitaker (Bill), John Gibson (Jessica), Steven Owings, and Brianna Gibson (Christian); ten great-grandchildren: James Gibson, Evan Whitaker, Collin Whitaker, Brittany Pendleton, Logan Owings, Maria Whitaker, Liam Gibson, Janessa Gibson, Emma Gibson and Lydia Gibson; and three great great-grandchildren: Axel Whitaker, River Whitaker and Marylin Whitaker.
