Herbert Garlan “Poncho” Shrum, 89, of Gravois Mills, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019 at California Care Center, California, MO. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25th at Kse Funeral Home in Forsyth, MO. Graveside services will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Brown Cemetery in Forsyth.
Herbert was born May 31, 1929, in Cedar Creek, Missouri, the son of John Dallas and Bertha Ann (Morrison) Shrum. He was a Seventh Day Adventist. Herbert enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and the rodeo. In his youth, he enjoyed bull riding and trick riding.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister. His survivors include his daughter, Tricia McCannon (Stanley) of Bunceton, MO; his life partner, Retha Boyd of Oak Grove, MO; two grandchildren: Michael Lester of Bunceton and Melissa Olsen of Pilot Grove, MO; two great-grandchildren: JoDee Lester and Madison Olsen; one great great-grandson, Cain Lester; two sisters: Coyeta Combs and Dottie Brown (Larry); and Retha’s children and grandchildren.
