Ida Pearl Romo, 83, of Buckner, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at her home. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27th at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Ida was born May 2, 1933, in Huggins, Missouri, the daughter of Oliver P.M. and Ethel P. (Zirschky) Leighty. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, yard work, birds, and nature, and adored her grandchildren.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Steve Harris; one sister, Blanche Kephart; and three brothers: Alvin, John, and Chris.
Her survivors include her husband of 36 years, Richard Romo of the home; two sons: Odis Harris & wife Darlene of Whitewright, TX, and John Galloway of Cuba, MO; one daughter, Rhonda Pinkelmann of Kansas; daughter-in-law, Barbara Harris of Independence; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters: Ina Gillespie of North Kansas City, MO, and Effie Nichols of Ypsilanti, MI; and numerous nieces & nephews.
