Ivonne Patricia Hernandez de Barra, 53, died early Friday, December 28, 2018 in St. Louis, Missouri, following a prolonged battle with breast cancer. She will be remembered on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at St. Jude Parish in Oak Grove, MO, with visitation from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. and burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family will establish a memorial fund in her honor with St. Jude Parish.

Ivonne was born July 28, 1965, in Santa Tecla, El Salvador, to Leopoldo Antonio and Zoila Esperanza Vazquez de Hernandez. On March 15, 1985, she married Nelson Barra. They raised three daughters. The family lived in Grain Valley since 2003.

Ivonne is survived by her husband; her father; her daughters: Andrea Strope (husband Matthew) of Chicago, Patricia Peiffer (husband Austin, children Maria and Joseph) of St. Louis, and Sophie; her sisters: Mirna Mendoza (husband Yusshy, children Yusshy and Mirna) of Houston, Roxanna McCowin of Naperville (husband Michael, children Karen, David, and Jack), and Zoila Urbina (husband Orlando, children Maria Fernanda and Andres) of Santa Tecla, El Salvador; and her brother Leopoldo Hernandez (Liliana, children Eduardo and Alejandro) of Minnealpolis; and many friends and extended family. Her mother preceded her in death.
