James F. Pfenenger, 80, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 at St. Joseph Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 3rd at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley; burial in Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 2nd at the funeral home.
James was born June 14, 1933, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the son of John and Elsie (Loethen) Pfenenger. He was a butcher and worked at Rodeo Packing House for 26 years. He also worked at Lipton Tea for 20 years. James was a past member of the Eagle’s Club. He enjoyed splitting wood, going on casino trips and going to Branson and the lake. He loved spending time with his family, and especially loved having grandkids and great grandkids sitting on his lap, giving them suckers and M&Ms.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae, on November 9th; four brothers: Bud, Adolf, Richard & Harry Pfenenger; and six sisters: Elizabeth Quigley, Dolores Howser, Mary Frances Phillip, Catherine Shackleford, Elsie Mueller & Florence Steelman.
His survivors include two sons: Jim Pfenenger & wife Paula of Blue Springs, MO, and John “Frank” Pfenenger & wife Connie of Hot Springs, AR; two daughters: Joyce Evans & husband Butch, and Beth Gross & husband Bob, all of Grain Valley; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eula Mae Duncan of FL.
