James Robert Ward, 69, of Holden, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 17th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at 3:00 p.m. in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
James was born March 25, 1947, in Hannibal, Missouri, the son of James T. and Doris K. (O’Brien) Ward. He wore many different hats to support his family. He was a construction worker, insurance salesman, sanitation worker, and eventually worked in the radiology field after returning to school at the age of 44. James loved dogs and being in the country, and enjoyed working in his workshop and shooting his guns. He was a very loving and caring person.
James is survived by his wife, Sharon Ward of the home; four children: daughter Jamie Wahlgren (Brad) of St. Charles, MO, daughter Heather Flagg (Jeremy) of St. Louis, MO, daughter Maggie Ward of Beloit, KS, and son Joshua Ward (Melissa) of Lee’s Summit, MO; nine grandchildren; one sister, Denice Lucas (Richard) of O’Fallon, MO; one nephew; and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his late wife, Patricia (Smith) Ward.
