Joann Duncan


Joann “Darline” Duncan, 80, of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri.

Darline was born March 11, 1941 in Wichita, Kansas. She was extremely outgoing and enjoyed working with people. Darline was happiest in her bare feet working in her many garden beds. She loved having her family together for many occasions, especially reunions and dinners.

She is preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Debra; brother, Ron and grandson, Nicki.

Darline is survived by her husband of 12 years, Dan Duncan; three sons: Ron Reninger and wife Susie, Tim Frazier and wife Susie, Steven Frazier and wife Trena; stepson, Daniel Duncan and wife Vanessa; six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

  1. Although Dan and Darline were only married “12” years they were together since the 80’s ! Dan would not give up until she said ‘yes’ ! She was more than a terrific person! She loved gardening and loved to teach it as well as canning and sewing! Everyone that knew her loved her! She worked hard her whole life and loved retirement ! There’s so many things left unsaid! She will be truly missed by all that knew her!

  2. We build a beautiful garden two years ago and we canned and harvested daily. She kept me on my toes and taught me so much. It will never be the same with out but. She was my friend, neighbor, and I loved her like a mom.

  4. I am so very sorry for your loss Dan & for that of the family. Darlene will be very missed by all. Joe & I thought so very much of her! She was a wonderful & talented woman. Always friendly & welcoming. She was unique& always herself & loved her family dearly! I’ m so sorry we all had to lose her.y prayers will be with you through your time ahead.   5. Darlene was my sister from another Mother. I learned about her, Mary and Ronnie when I was eleven. Never met her until I was in my fifty’s.
    She was always the baby of my Dad’s first family. I always considered her one of my sisters and followed her on Facebook. Dan my sympathy goes out to you.

  6. Grandma I love you so much. Your gardening was spectacular. I will always remember all the days we spent together. You was such a loving person. I am glad your at peace 🕊️. I will continue to pray for our family and dan. This isn’t a goodbye it’s a see you later. Love your granddaughter salena.
