Joe “Gramps” Stenton Patton, 82, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016. A visitation will be held at 10:00 am. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am. also at the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to First Baptist Church of Oak Grove or the American Cancer Society.
Joe was born in Clifton Hill, Missouri, son of Joseph and Margaret (Stenton) Patton. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Oak Grove and was a deacon for 28 years at Norfleet Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. He retired from the Gas Service Company after 36 years of service. He loved birds, outdoors, traveling, sports and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Thomas “T.A.” Patton. His survivors include his wife of 64 years, Lillian Patton of the home; son, Joe Paul (Debbie) Patton of Leawood, KS; daughter, Susan (Les) Pearson of Grain Valley, MO; 1 brother, James (Ann) Patton of Clark, MO; two sisters, Colleen (Charles) Foudree of Lee’s Summit, MO and Martha Lou Ellicott of Independence, MO; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
