John Eugene Surface, 71, of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 5th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 6th at the funeral home; burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove, MO. The family suggests contributions to his grandchildren’s education.
John was born August 19, 1940, in Independence, MO, the son of John Milton & Mary Elizabeth (Lefholz) Surface. He served his country in the United States Navy. John married Terri M. Dyer on October 29, 1965. He was a Supervisor at Bendix / Allied Signal. John enjoyed Nascar, was an avid bowler, and loved his family.
His survivors include his wife of 46 years, Terri Surface of the home; a son, John Surface & wife, Terry of Grain Valley; a daughter, Cindy Clear & husband, Terry of Kingsville, MO; a sister, Marianna Baker of Lee’s Summit, MO; five grandchildren: Zachary, Shyanne, Amber, Gabbie & Alex; and one great-granddaughter, Rilynne.
