
John Joseph Boutross, 82, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018. Services will be held on Thursday, May 24th at St Ann’s Catholic Church in Independence; with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Rosary from 11:00 – 11:30 a.m., and Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.
John was born on August 13, 1935, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Joseph H. and Blanche (Shikana) Boutross. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a devout Catholic, attending St. Ann’s Catholic Church. John served in the US Air Force and was a retired mechanic and maintenance technician with Yellow Freight. He was also a Doctor of Chiropractic.
John was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters: Rosebud Welker, Lucille Bergin, Agnes Walters, Anna Laughlin, Regina Boutross and Lillie Boutross; and four brothers: George, Thomas, Herbert and Louis Boutross.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis (Johnson) Boutross; five children: Mary Norman (James), Veronica Butts (Raymond), Janine Buford (the late Bill), Thomas Boutross (Tamara), and David Boutross, all of Independence; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who knew him as Pepaw; one brother, Peter Boutross; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He will be forever loved and missed by all those who had the pleasure of his acquaintance and his many jokes.
