John R. Raybourn


John Robert Raybourn, 87, of Bates City, Missouri, passed away Monday, July 6, 2020 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.  Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17th at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, MO.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. 

John was born on August 10, 1932, in Kansas City, MO, son to the late William Edward Raybourn and the late Eugenia May Bailes Raybourn.  He attended the Missouri School for the Deaf in Fulton, MO.  He worked as a Tool and Die Machinist at Lawn Mower Parts in Independence, MO, and Schultz Tool Company in Independence, MO.  

John had an amazing love for hunting and made sure to share that love and knowledge with his children.  He used to race motorcycles and passed the love for racing to his children and grandchildren.  What John loved to do, he did with passion.  He always strived to do his best and never let his deafness get in the way of that.  

John will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by five children: Cheryl Marie Pace and husband Victor Michael of Raymore, William Edward Raybourn and wife Pamela Lou of Independence, John Harley Raybourn of Grandview, Lisa Gail Raybourn of Raymore, and Robert Ray Raybourn of Holden; eight grandchildren: Alexandria Marie Spriggs and husband Corey Michael of Raymore, Vincent Michael Picchiello of Raymore, Amanda Nicole Raybourn of Grain Valley, Jessica Lynn Raybourn of Liberty, Austen John Raybourn of Odessa, Abralyn Paris Raybourn of Odessa, Brody Robert Raybourn of Holden, and Brystal Mae Raybourn of Holden; and two great-grandchildren: Macen John Raybourn of Odessa and Alexander Michael Spriggs of Raymore.  

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by three sisters, Ann Graham, Donna Hicks, and Nancy Glitten.
