John Wayne Joseph “JJ”, 89, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the VA Hospital, Kansas City, MO. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4th at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
John was born June 24, 1926 in Brunswick, Missouri, the son of Jerome and Addie E. (Heisel) Joseph. He was a WWII Veteran, where he earned several medals: Bronze Star, Army Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Sharp Shooter, and WWII Rifle Medal. John married Betty Ann Cox on March 7, 1949. They were 2 months shy of being married 59 years at the time of Betty’s death in 2008. Up until 1 ½ years ago, he had been an active member of the American Legion for 40 years, most of that with Post 499. John loved his family & friends, fishing, and Royals baseball!!
John was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome & Addie; his wife, Betty; son, Gary; daughter, Johnita; and brother, Beuford.
His survivors include his son, Scott Joseph & his wife, Sondra, of Blue Springs; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters; and several nieces & nephews.
