Karen Sue Raines, 74, of Grain Valley, MO, formerly of Tipton, MO, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 30th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29th at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1st at New Kirk Cemetery.
Karen was born September 19, 1938 in Tipton, Missouri, the daughter of Marvin and Nora (Wendleton) McPherison. She graduated with honors from Tipton High School in 1956. Karen married Donald A. Raines in February 1957. She worked as a secretary for Walt Bodine & Roosevelt Water District, and kept all the minutes when they completed the irrigation system in California & Colorado. She became an auditor for Shoney’s motels for many years.
Karen is survived by her husband of 55 years, Don Raines of the home; one son, Gary Don Raines; one brother, Larry Dean (Agnes) McPherison; two sisters, Donna D. Patterson & Sandra (Jim) Jennison; and many nieces & nephews.
