
Katherine Alice Slape-Love, 87, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 at Oak Grove Nursing & Rehab. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, November 16th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley; burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, MO. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Katherine was born March 18, 1930, in Olvey, Arkansas, the daughter of Gilbert C. and Martha A. (Dees) Burton. She was a claims adjuster at Montgomery Ward. Katherine was a member of Gospel Lighthouse in Kansas City, MO, and was involved with the Drumright, OK, Senior Citizen Group. She loved to travel, sing, sew, read her Bible, and spend time with her family.
Katherine was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Slape in 1978; her second husband, Robert Love in 2011; two sons: Thomas Slape in 2017, and Eddie Slape in 1979; infant daughter, Carolyn Slape in 1959; her parents; three brothers: Lytle, Kenneth, and Zack Burton; two sisters: Elva Blevins and Betty Talley; and three great-grandchildren.
Her survivors include two daughters: Linda Goza (Robert) of Oak Grove, and Teresa Slape of Kansas City; one son, Larry Slape (Mary) of Oklahoma; two sisters: Jane Firuccia (Joe) of Gladstone, MO, and Mary Martin (Dennis) of Independence, MO; two brothers: Gilbert Burton (Linda) of Lancaster, KS, and Ross Burton of Waukomis, OK; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandson.
