Kenneth R. Greer, 88, of Independence, MO, passed away January 9, 2019. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 14th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Kenneth was born February 18, 1930, in Orrick, Missouri, the son of James and Gladys (Pilcher) Greer. He was a Korean War Veteran and Purple Heart recipient. Kenneth worked on the assembly line at the GM Leeds Plant for 34 years, retiring in 1988. He attended Grace Baptist Church and was a member of the Oak Grove VFW and American Legion, and of the Ada Masonic Lodge for 50 years. He enjoyed cat fishing, hunting, gardening, watching old Westerns, and taking care of his neighbors.
Kenneth was preceded in death by two wives, Marilyn Greer in 1999 and Mattie Greer in 2016.
His survivors include son, Alan Greer (Linda) of Oak Grove, MO; two daughters: Glenda Brooks of Gladstone, MO, and Deborah Farrar of Kansas City, MO; three brothers: Jay Greer, Ben Greer, and Donny Greer, all of OR; one sister, Shirley Greer, also of OR; six grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.
