Kenneth Wayne Vanderpool, 77, of Independence, MO, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2015 at home, with Gentiva Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 12th at New Salem Funeral Home; burial in New Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Kenny was born in Bethany, MO, September 14, 1937 to Calvin Ocean Vanderpool and Dora Faye Corbin Vanderpool-Hodgins. He attended Central & Southeast High Schools. Kenny managed McCalls Service Station in Fairmount-Sugar Creek for over 40 years. He loved keeping his car & trucks clean, mowing the lawn, and going to the lake.
He is survived by wife, Marjorie Popplewell Vanderpool (married June 8, 1956); son, Kevin DeWayne Vanderpool; special niece, DeAnn Vanderpool Smallwood, who was a constant caregiver for Kenny; brother, Gary Dean Vanderpool; and nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings, Hermel Vern, Robert Ray (Donna), Calvin Ocean Jr., Anna Marie Pitman, Phylis Colleen, Carol Sue, & Delbert Max.
