Kerry K. Burns


Kerry Kenneth Burns, 79, of Independence, MO, passed away October 8, 2018.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday October 13, at Oak Grove Restoration Branch, 1203 N Broadway, Oak Grove, MO.

Kerry was born January 25, 1939 on his grandfather’s homestead in Germfask, MI in the Upper Peninsula. He was in the National Guard, then went into the Air Force where he was stationed in Japan from 1958 through 1959. He was ordained as a Priest in the RLDS Church in 1962. He remained active throughout his life. He received his MD in the Dominican Republic in 2000.

He lived on and operated the family farm for 18 years in Germfask, MI.  He worked as a truck driver for an oil support company when the family moved to McAllen, TX in 1978.  The family moved to Missouri in 1981.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, of 58 years, daughters, Kay Boyd (Ted; deceased), Karla Hill (Delbert), Kandi Engelke (Steve), Karole Rogers (Larry) and son Kenneth Burns (Lorraine), 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 4 brothers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Elizabeth Burns and one brother.
