Lloyd “Allen” Sawyers, 61, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29th at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence; burial in New Salem Cemetery, Independence. The family will greet guests from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Allen was born on January 1, 1957 in Trenton, Missouri, the son of Lloyd L. and Mary E. (Sams) Sawyers. He was the first New Year’s baby born in Trenton. Allen worked as a straddle carrier operator with W.W. Grainger for 28 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and the mountains in Colorado. Allen was a faithful servant of the Lord and proud of his family. He was known for his great sense of humor and will be deeply missed.
Allen is survived by his wife of 35 years, Alice; three children: Christopher Sawyers, Rebecca Hulett (Caleb), and Amy Sawyers, all of Independence, MO; his mother, Mary; and two grandchildren: Brady and Claire Hulett. He was preceded in death by his father Lloyd L Sawyers.
