LaVerne Lucille Lloyd, 79, of Bates City, Missouri passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021.
LaVerne was born December 19, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Edgar and Frieda (Borgfield) Winkler. She was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church of Oak Grove and was involved also in the LWML and several altar guilds. LaVerne and Jeffrey cared for several foster children through the years. She was a proud secretary at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. LaVerne always put family before herself. She loved animals and flowers. She was generous and had a strong faith and prayer life. LaVerne was beloved by everyone.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Lorenz in 1970; her parents; and 2 sisters: Dorothy Peetz and Virginia Ulrich.
LaVerne is survived by her husband, Reverend Jeffrey Lloyd, of the home; 2 daughters: Cindy Cary (Roger) of Deepwater, MO., Kris Reifel (Randy) of Bates City, MO; foster son, Mark Ackerman (Teresa) of Appleton City, MO; brother, Elmer (Bud) Winkler of IL; 4 grandchildren: Christy Bracher (Trevor), Kayla Reifel (Felix); Alexis Reifel (Dayton) and Kylie Ackerman; 1 great-grandchild, Olivia Bracher; several nieces and nephews and family and friends in all the churches that Jeffrey and LaVerne served.
