Lee Ann (Spencer) Tomlin, 70, of Blue Springs formerly of Oak Grove and Lexington, MO passed away February 12, 2014.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Monday February 17, 2014 at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO. Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Lee Ann’s funeral is on the 51st anniversary of her baptism.
Lee was born at her grandparents’ home May 30, 1943 in rural Winterset, IA. The family moved to the Kansas City, MO area when she was about 9 years old. She lived the rest of her life in MO except for 1 ½ years in CO. Lee was married to Edward Barker in 1961. They had one son together. She later was married to John Tomlin, they had one daughter together. Lee graduated high school from Oak Grove in 1961. She earned an Associate in Arts degree from Longview Community College in 1983. Lee completed her education graduating Magna Cum Laude from CMSU with a BS in Social Work in 1987. Lee made a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized February 17, 1963. Lee loved her family, animals, children, music and dancing. She left this earth at Shirkey Nursing Home, Richmond, MO on February 12, 2014 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, surrounded by family and friends. She leaves behind 1 son Jeffrey A. Barker (Vickie), of Independence, MO; 1 daughter Lisa Marie Caldwell (Corban) of Joplin MO; 2 grandchildren: Caegan (20 months old), Leighalla (1week old); 2 sisters: Sandy Johnston (Tom) of Lexington, MO, Patty Mainard (Douglas) of Marshfield, MO; 3 brothers: Todd Spencer (Lola) of Oak Grove, MO, Mike Spencer of Marshfield, MO, Wes Spencer of Hermitage, MO and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Lee was always an outstanding daughter, mother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by many here on earth, but is dancing and celebrating salvation homecoming in Heaven with a multitude of loved ones today.
