Lena F. Teal Shrout


Lena Frances Teal Shrout, 91, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Disciples of Christ Christian Church, 701 NW 15th St. Blue Springs, MO. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm. also at the church.  In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Blue Springs YMCA or Disciples of Christ Christian Church.

Fran, daughter of Frank and Pearl (Duncan) Crumm was born in Marshall, MO.  She had a zest and love for living life to its fullest.  Fran loved to fish and take others fishing, she loved to camp, travel, sing with her church choir or rolling down the van windows to sing with her kids and grandkids. They loved to hear her sing rock and roll, and the old spirituals of her youth. She loved her Lord, her church, her family, extended family and her many friends. Fran worked with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Marion Laboratories and upon retirement worked at the YMCA of Blue Springs for many years. She volunteered at several organizations over the years including MOCSA, served food to the homeless, listened to all who needed love and compassion.  Fran was also a member of Toastmasters International and Eastern Star.

Fran is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Pearl Crumm, her first husband, William H. Teal; daughter, Holly Ann Hilbert; and brother, Clarence “Butch” Rudd.  She is survived by her husband Ben Shrout of the home; 2 daughters, Judy (Mike) Oliphant of Hollister, MO, Sandy (Richard) Stuckey of Kearney, MO; son, Jeff (Connie) Teal of Harrisonville, MO; step-daughter, Luanne (Jim) Younts of Kansas City, MO; step-son, Larry (Cindy) Shrout of Blue Springs, MO; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and extended family.
