
In Loving Memory of Lindy Lavan Baxley, born April 25, 1948 – February 10, 2023.
Lindy passed away at his home surrounded by family by his side. Lindy was born in Hemingway, SC, to the late Thomas Orin and Lillian Hanna Baxley. He was the beloved husband of Susan Potter Baxley.
Lindy is survived by his wife Susan, his son Thomas (van) Baxley, daughters Delilah Baxley, Stacy Flood and adopted daughter Johnnie Baxley, step-sons Brian and Brad Rose, brothers Freddy (Karen) Baxley, Terry (Beth) Baxley, David Tracy (Marcia) Baxley, sisters Peggy (Johnny) Helmke, Lucy (Warren) Finney, Leila (Allen) Balliet, Elizabeth Baxley, step-sister Carol Darity.
Lindy was born April 25, 1948 at the family farm where he grew up until joining the Navy in 1966 and served on the Shio Or Lec, then transferring to the Brinkley Bass until returning home in 1969. Lindy was proud to own his own roofing company and joining Local Roofers #20. He enjoyed playing Hand & Foot with friends and family especially when he would win. Throughout his life he was very adventurous, even crossing some things off his bucket list, like learning to ride a motorcycle in his sixties.
A small memorial service will be 2:00-6:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the home. Lindy will be taken back home to SC. The family will have a small graveside service 11:00 a.m. March 4, 2023 at Indian Town Presbyterian Church Cemetery, which will be his final resting place on earth giving way to being in Heaven.

15 Feb 2023Lindy was one of my first friends as I grew up on a farm close to the Baxley farm. I loved going to the Baxley’s home. In later years I enjoyed our renewed friendship on Facebook.
He will be missed.

Lindy was Truly one of a Kind. He was a Fun person to work with. He enjoyed coming up With new ideas to make Roof pulling up Easier. Lindy was a Good person. Had a Good heart and Will be missed. RIP Lindy. To the Family. I am Sorry for your loss.
