Louis G. Anderson


Louis G. “Andy” Anderson, 93, of Bates City, MO, returned to the Lord on Sunday, February 10, 2008, after a short illness. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 12th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 13th at the Church of Jesus Christ, Oak Grove Restoration Branch. Private burial will be in Dow City Cemetery, Dow City, IA.

Andy was born February 22, 1914 in Dow City, IA, the son of Gustav & Emma (Vollersen) Anderson. He married Diane Jessen on October 28, 1972, and they moved to Bates City, MO in 1980. Andy wc;is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Bates City Restoration Branch. Over the years, he has restored many cars, motorcycles, and over 100 antique aircraft. He owned & operated a crop spraying service for 16 years. Andy helped establish aircraft museums in Niagara Falls, Canada, Wichita, KS; and Santee, SC. He was inducted into the Iowa Aviation Hall of Fame in 1993.

Andy was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis; a grandson, Curtis Moody; four sisters: Betty Senter, Louella Miller, June Belcher, and Mary Lou Tornow; and a brother Donald, who died in infancy.

His survivors include his wife Diane of Bates City; three children: Donald Eugene Anderson & wife Peggy of Mansfield, MO; Barbara June Moody & husband Bob of Mountain Grove, MO, and Larry Vern Anderson & wife Carolyn of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren: Mary Pearson of Nixa, MO, Mark Anderson of Bates City, MO, Nancy Hoagland of Springfield, MO, Diana Singleton of Mountain Grove, MO, and Gus Anderson of Columbia, MO; seven great­ grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; four step great­ great-grandchildren; many nieces & nephews; and a host of friends.
