Manuel “Manny” Vincent Chaves (52) of Oak Grove, MO passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO due to complications of heart arrhythmia. He was born on November 1, 1962 in Lompoc, CA and spent his early years living in Northern California in the Central Valley region. It was there where he met his future wife of 34 years, Gina (nee Atkins,) as a teenager. Manny was a spiritual and religious Christian man who began and ended each day with a prayer. He was hardworking and he had a generous spirit always reaching out to play ball with his grandsons Jahlin, Kellen, and Cameron, and other children, so much so that he coached their football and baseball teams once they were old enough to play organized sports. He had an infectious sense of humor and he loved playing pool with his pals. But most importantly, Manny was an accomplished master house painter, a profession in which he took great pride. Manny is survived by his wife Gina, his eldest daughter Melanie and fiancé Ronald Anderson, her two sons Jahlin Anthony Reed and Kellen Vincent Reed (Grain Valley, MO); his daughter Jandy and her husband Ben Wood, and their son Cameron (Topeka, KS). He also leaves behind his loving siblings eldest sister Roxanne Ornelas (Oxford, OH), sister Catherine Chaves (Modesto, CA), brother Anthony “Tony” Chaves (Turlock, CA), sister Yvette Chaves (South Carolina), sister Marcella Chaves (Turlock, CA), youngest sister Francine Chaves (Modesto, CA), and several nieces and nephews who will miss their “Uncle Boo Boo,” and extended family. Manny was preceded in death by his parents Alicia (nee Montejano) and father Alfred Chaves, his brother Alfred Jr. and his sister Camille Esquivel. A celebration of Manny’s life will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 11:00am at the First Christian Church, 701 Northwest 15th St., Blue Springs, MO 64015.
