Martha Lucille Jones, 68, of Independence, Missouri passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 10th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO; burial following in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Martha Jones was born on March 11, 1951 in Topeka, Kansas, daughter of John and Gladys Pentlin. She started attending the Radio Church of God in Springfield, Missouri with her family in 1959. She was baptised by Mr. Dean Blackwell on April 2, 1969. She met her future husband when she was only 13 years old at Church in Kansas City. Gary and Martha were married by Mr. Blackwell on May 24, 1969. A few days later, she graduated Olathe High School. Martha and Gary welcomed their son, Gary Lynn Jones II, into the world on November 30, 1977. Martha worked at various places over the years: Automotive Assets, Barbour Concrete, Watt Drug and Nexxus. However, she found the most fulfillment as a devoted and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Over the years, she volunteered for the Church in many areas and supported and helped her family and friends in countless ways. This year she celebrated her 50th Wedding Anniversary with Gary. Last month, she was happy to be able to observe her 60th Feast of Tabernacles and Last Great Day at the Lake of the Ozarks with her immediate family and many friends. Martha was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Allen Pentlin. She is survived by her husband Gary; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Gwen Jones; grandchildren, Lynnette and Gary Jones III (Trace); 6 siblings: Carolyn Brown, Shirley Brazee, Sharon Marshall, John Pentlin, Viola Gunn, and Janet Hodkins; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
