Martin Eugene “Gene” Green age 85 passed away Sunday May 7, 2017 at his home in Independence, Missouri. A Memorial service will be held Monday at 3 p.m. with a visitation starting at 2 p.m. at the New Salem Funeral Home in Independence, Missouri.
Gene was born April 22, 1932 in Mountain Home, Arkansas the son of John Martin and Jessie (Watts) Green. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He loved coon hunting and spending time outdoors. He was one for story telling but most of all he cherished time with his friends and family.
Gene is survived by brother; Edgar Green, sister; Betty Beck. Step son; Vinson (Tammy) Martinez, and step daughter Tina (Dave) Byard. Four step grandchildren Mitchel Martinez, Makenzie Brooks, Bridget and Dylan Byard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Rex and Paul Green and one sister; Monelle Climer.
