Mary Alice Jones Rhodelander, 83, of Independence, MO, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Oak Grove Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 13th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley; burial in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens, Independence. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12-1 p.m. preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Care Alternatives Hospice.
Mary Alice was born November 5, 1923 in Pleasant Hill, MO, the daughter of Andrew Jr. & Alice (Woodworth) Jones. She had been employed at the KIMO Radio & Newspaper business and at Black, Sicalls and Bryson, both of KAnsas City, MO. She started, owned and operated a vari-typing business from her home for more than 30 years, retiring in 1986. She was a very active member of the Fairmount Christian Church of Independence for over 50 years, until her illness in 1998. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors Club and Rebecca’s Club. She celebrated over 50 years of marriage with the love of her life, her husband Orval Kenneth Rhodelander, whom she called Ky. Her husband, her parents, five brothers, and one sister all preceded her in death.
Her survivors include two sons: Kenneth Rhodelander & wife Linda of Oak Grove, and Michael Rhodelander & wife Julie of Lake Winnebago; grandchildren: Kalene & Brett Bagwell, Kenneth Rhodelander, and Taylor & Lauren Mikayla Rhodelander; great-grandchildren: Tori, Liam, Beau & Miranda; one brother: John Wesley Jones of Independence; and many nieces & nephews.
Mary Alice enjoyed playing cards, cooking, candy making, shopping, fishing, and being with family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
