Melba Almira (Shrout) Ford, 98, of Bates City, Missouri, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Meyer Care Center, Higginsville, MO. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 25th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bates City Cemetery.
Melba was born September 22, 1918 in Blue Springs, Missouri, the daughter of John H. and Lenora M. (Brown) Shrout. She was a homemaker. Melba was a member of Eastern Star for 50 years. She was always taking care of her children and loved her grandchildren dearly.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents, husband James W. Ford, 3 brothers, 1 sister, and son Robert Ford.
Her survivors include son, Richard Ford and wife, Laurina, of Bates City, MO; 2 sisters, Sarah Story of Oak Grove, MO, and Clara Bozarth of Lincoln, NE; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 7 great great-grandchildren.
