Michael Eugene King, 68, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away February 27, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley; burial in Perdee Cemetery, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Perdee Cemetery.
Michael was born on November 17, 1938, in Sandwich, Illinois, the son of Harry Milton and Irma Elizabeth (O’Neill) King. He served in the Navy for 4 years. Michael married Deborah E. Harris on December 4, 1970. He was a construction worker for several years and had owned two businesses in Grain Valley, a hardware store and a furniture refinishing shop. Michael liked hunting, fishing, and bowling. He was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, belonged to Stevens Ministry through the church, and was also a lifetime member of VFW Post 2171. Michael served on the Grain Valley City Council, serving one term as Mayor. He is preceded in death by his father, Harry King.
His survivors include: his wife of 36 years: Deborah E. King of the home; one son: Curtis L. King of Grain Valley, MO; Two daughters: Cynthia A. Saltzman & her husband, Jeff of Sheridan, IL, and Lesa Ross of Streator, IL; his mother: Irma Grady of Sandwich, IL; one brother: Tom King & his wife, Samitha of LaSalle, IL; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two nephews & one niece.
