Orman R. Enke Sr.


Orman Ralph Enke Sr., 79, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 at LTAC Northland Hospital, North Kansas City, MO.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 25th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley.  The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Timothy Lutheran Church, 425 NW R.D. Mize Road, Blue Springs, MO 64014.

Orman was born on June 25, 1931, in Purdy, Missouri, the son of Carl and Franziska (Stork) Enke.  He married Helen Simmons in March 1956 and she preceded him in death in January 2005.  Orman served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was a meat cutter at Safeway and other area businesses.  He was a member of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Reserve Posse for over 35 years and a member of the Mic-O-Say Tribe of the Boy Scouts of America for over 40 years.  Orman was also a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod his whole life, and a member of Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs.

His survivors include one daughter: Robin & her husband, Paul Wootten of Tipton, MO, & their children, Jill, Lynnea, Cody & Alison; one son: Orman Enke Jr. of Grain Valley & his children, Bradley, Lisa, Olga, & Tanner; one brother: Lloyd & Shirley Enke of Independence, MO; one sister: Martha Zucker of Torrance, CA; two sisters-in-law: Betty Enke of Independence, & Carolyn Simmons of North Carolina; one brother-in-law: Arnold Simmons of North Carolina; and many nieces & nephews.
